Body Mass Index - BMI

BMI is defined as the body weight divided by the square of the height of the person. it's meant to be used for statistics, but since it's so fast and free it's been growing in pupularity to show if someone is over or underweight. But since the formula doesn't care about body type or muscle mass it can be misleading in some cases, for instance if you are built like a body builder you will be rated overweight.

Basal Metabolic Rate - BMR

BMR is the amount of energy your body is expending during 24 hours while in a resting state. We used the Harris-Benedict formula to calculate your value:

 Metric BMR
  Men: 66.473 + (13.7516 x weight) + (5.0033 x height) - (6.775 x age)

  Women: 655.0955 + (9.5634 x weight) + (1.8496 x height) - (4.6756 x age)

 US BMR
  Men: 66.473 + (6.2376 x weight) + (12.7084 x height) - (6.775 x age)

  Women: 655.0955 + (4.3379 x weight) + (4.698 x height) - (4.6756 x age)
